Prepared for frozen days?

The winter is waiting for its entry. Not even in the northern parts of Sweden, where the snow normally lies deep at this time of year. But both snow and cold is just around the corner, mark my words. Many are you who is waiting for those chilly nights and plan to wear a pair of nice boots. We recommend you to prepare for these nights already now. Before you know it the favourites will be gone, or suddenly the winter’s here and without boots you might catch a cold. One of those pairs you could easily fall in love with is BRUJAS Second Hand!

A wished-for friend

Alicia_1

To be able to gather all the close friends in one and the same city, around one table – that’s a hard one. Especially since we’re all eager to start our own careers after years and years in the school bench. When my close friend Alicia is coming home from London for a few days, to gather her closest at LeBar, we gather at the table as lawyers, organists, opticians, actresses, assistant directors, still students, and for just one night we only have time for each other. That’s truly happiness!

Sixtyseven designer visiting Sweden

Junior_1

It’s time to co-ordinate the A/W Collection 2012. It’s crazy how time flies! It feels like we decided about the models of the running autumn just the other day. Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to hear about the moments of creating a new shoe model. First of all we analyse the season that has passed (autumn 2011). What became a hit? What did we miss? Then we decide about what lasts that will be part of next season and what new versions we do need. The work with the collection for the autumn 2012 actually started already in August when we got the first indications about how the shoes were accepted in the stores.

Next step is to create the upper sections for the lasts we’ve decided to go for. We are happy to collaborate with a designer who understands the Scandinavian, clean fashion! The winning concept is mostly clean upper parts combined with soles suitable for the Nordic climate.

Now it’s time for Technical Sketches. This includes all the information necessary to make the first sample in the shoe factory. When all the first samples are made we try them all. This is maybe the most important part of the whole process. Without feedback on fittings and technical details it’s almost impossible to be successful. This week’s mission was the try on moment.

When the samples, after corrections are finally accepted, it’s time for colouring. This process has been parallel to the other, to secure the supply of leather material. Finally the collection is ready to meet our resellers for the first time, at the fair in Garda, Italy. That’s mid January.

As you can see there are plenty of moments in the developing phase! It’s a long way from idea to final product. A lot of hard work, but at the same time incredibly inspiring and fun!

The history of Arvid

Bild 2

How come that one of the models in the Scandinavian winter collection is named after a typical Swedish boy’s name, Arvid? It’s undeniable that it’s a little bit of a bastard among the other girl’s names (some might raise their eyebrows for Brujas as well, but that’s another story). The truth (as it’s told) is that our Spanish friends at the HQ was excited when they happened to stumble upon Arvid and found out it was a typical Swedish name, and for that reason would be perfect as a name of a shoe model. The only little detail that was missed in the error check was if the name suited a boy or a girl. Well, we look upon it as a piece of Spanish charm!

Which super power would you choose?

Yesterday my friends and me had really nice tapas at Café Tabac. When five girls get together you won’t have to wait long until the subject will be about boys. Yesterday’s topic was about boys and what super power that would be the very best. The winning power was logic – to be able to see things from a guy’s point of view (competing with the ability to fly, being invisible, having a rubber arm and the capacity of shooting fire).

My mind reminded me of a crazy book ”A woman’s handbook” which I got from my grandma. It describes the most absurd procedures expected from a woman to please the men (probably written before the 50’s). The funniest chapter has the headline ”Don’t show this to your husband!” which said, ”No man is looking for appreciation (it’s only women carrying such utopian thoughts). A man wants to be loved and worshiped, that’s all.” That quote is totally crazy (mainly because the complete book is about understanding a man’s wants and needs and to form yourself to that) but that’s what makes it so easy to think that life might not have to be harder than wanting to be loved. And you do not have to be a man to understand that!

A brave friend

To be on stage, with spotlights pointing at you, NAKED, might be my worst nightmare. Yesterday I saw my friend Anna Åström being in that exact situation, when performing at the musical Hair at the Community Theatre of Stockholm. Then I turn to my friend beside me and say, ”I have to stop thinking that I cannot wear a tank top for the reason of having ugly arms. I definitely can wear a tank top, its just arms!” Now my worst nightmare is no longer being naked on stage, it’s to not understand that life is so much more than hiding upper arms.

Store visit in Uppsala & Stockholm

CIMG13477

We’ve been on a small trip to visit two of our resellers, August Johansson in Uppsala and Zoe in Stockholm.

August Johansson is a traditional shoe store with a large and wide range. The store is newly renovated with a great sure instinct. Very nice! And of course we are mighty proud that Sixtyseven is well represented in the store. We found ANGE Plain zip (one of this autumn’s hot items) on an eye-catching podium.

Zoe is a more niche shoe store with a trendy assortment that is suitable for both everyday use and for parties. We met with Hanna, who is working in the store, for a chat (and this particular day she was wearing a pair of Petra Laced in camo). She’s a true source of inspiration for every shoe addict. Just get there and let her teach you about the running trends!

Good luck!
